Walk by Faith, not by Sight
Some thoughts from my sister...
2 Corinthians 5:7 is a very popular verse. Probably because it's a clear and direct instruction Paul gives to the people in Corinth; simply live by their faith in Christ and not by their sight.
There are many different ways of seeing this verse. I think the more common version is that we need to trust God above what we can see in the world. Because he can govern our lives so much better than we can, it’s vital that we keep our sight on God. When we forget that, we start to govern ourselves with the world's influence. Then we can easily fall into the sin of feeling discontented with what He was gifted us with or we start doubting God and who He really is. This perspective is very true and it’s important to remember to trust God above the world. Although this is the most well-known version, a friend recently helped me see another point of view…
She told me we need to walk by faith and not by sight. The literal view on the verse! We tend to overcomplicate things. She said that, by walking in faith, we should walk in His promises and, by walking with our sight, we are believing Satan's lies.
Here is a diagram to explain it:
We need to walk in His promises and not in the devil’s lies. We can’t base our faith on our feelings, we need to base our faith on God’s promises, truth and word. We mustn’t tell ourselves lies about who God is, but tell the beautiful truth that can uplift us and give our souls nourishment.
Here are some promises that help us to walk by faith in God’s word:
2 Corinthians 12:9
Isaiah 40:31
Isaiah 40:10
Deuteronomy 31:8
John 16:33
Psalm 32:8
Psalm 37:23
Matthew 11:28-30

This is beautiful, thank you!
nWhat a lovely way to look at a familiar passage! And how often we say we 'trust God' but do our own thing, but if we walk in his promises as well as trust him how much more will we know God and be his good and faithful image-bearers! Thank you Emma!
I love all of you so much!
Precious truths, thank you for sharing.
Lovely post, thank you Grace!
