Song of the Month: April

These days, my heart’s always on the run. These days, my world’s spinning out of control. These days are fast and they’re furious; feels like the worst is ahead of us.

These Days by Jeremy Camp is a song of encouragement, but first, it reminds us of the hopelessness we find ourselves in when we feel squeezed too tight and stretched too thin; when we question if God might have gotten it wrong when he chose us. We need assurance that God is in control of our situation.

A good start would be remembering who God is. He is ultimately in control. His decisions are always right. You and I are in the right place, at the right time. God called us by name and He doesn’t make mistakes. We can trust in God’s wisdom and authority because we know Him. We’ve seen him working in our past. He's proven that He will never fail us.

Our next step is to assure ourselves that we are here for a reason. Esther 4:14(b) says, “And who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?” God doesn’t create anything without a purpose.

Lastly, we need to figure out what we are supposed to do when we feel overwhelmed. We were born to shine bright in a dark world that needed some light. Don’t have to be afraid. Maybe we were made for these days. Our ultimate purpose is to be a beacon of Christ’s light. We need to reflect the hope and power for the people who can’t see it. The people who are actually hopeless.

God created us to be part of His beautiful masterpiece of Christians who live for him. This tapestry is made of golden threads, one of which could be you. The thing about gold is that it needs to go through fire before it can shine like it was made to shine.

Nothing in God's Kingdom is without a reason. Maybe He created you to shine in these days of trouble. I pray that you will find purpose in the trails.

Don't shine so that others see you, shine so that, through you, others can see Him.
